MediaMath's engineers are creating a best-in-class web application on top of sophisticated micro services used by top digital marketers all over the world. Our distributed team has a say in the direction of our product and we work closely with the rest of the Product and Engineering teams to meet the needs of our clients. Due to the vastness of the digital marketing playing field and MediaMath's central role in it, we have the privilege and challenge of building dynamic interfaces that make complex operations simple and safe.


As a Lead on this team, you will be a contributor to the code and the culture. You will be expected to lead decision-making processes across architecture and feature sets.


  • Design, develop, document, test, and debug new and existing software systems and/or applications
  • Aid in architecture and scalability design of server infrastructure; influence strategic vision
  • Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements
  • Support, maintain, and document software functionality
  • Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design
  • Own parts of the system and continuously work to improve them in an agile environment
  • Develop and maintain thorough understanding of products and infrastructure; become subject matter expert
  • Use processes to collaboratively perform feature-based development, code reviews and releases
  • Work in an Agile team
  • Create elegant, testable, and maintainable software
  • Contribute to resource planning and continual process improvements
  • Contribute to increased ownership of application direction through monitoring and metrics
  • Manage a small team of Engineers
  • Follow secure coding best practices



This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. As part of our global technology team, you may be required to be work off-hours or be on-call on a rotating basis. Other duties may be assigned, as needed. MediaMath retains the right to change job duties at any time.


Experience Requirements

  • 5-10 years experience including MA/MS in Computer Science, related degree, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Strong problem solving skills


Preferred Skills

  • Fluency in C++ or Golang (with ability to work in either or both of the above)
  • Experience with event-loop or multi-threaded network server development in a Linux/UNIX environment
  • Cassandra/DynamoDB/Redis experience
  • Experience with fault-tolerant, replicated distributed systems
  • Engineering experience with one or more scripting languages like Python
  • Understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers
  • Experience resource planning on 6 to 12 month roadmaps
  • Experience architecting distributed systems with changing load requirements/patterns
  • Works well alone and in teams
  • Strong experience in ops (although not officially a job duty, overseeing and directing ops work)
  • Experience with CI/CD, containerization (docker), and terraform
  • AWS (experience with a variety of their services)
  • Willingness to be on call
