Responsibilities

A Chief of Staff will:

  1. Enable leaderships’ vision & priorities – “Get things done”
  2. Increase leaderships’ bandwidth for strategic priorities/growth – “Triage & heavy lifting”
  3. Provide neutral, strategic insight – “Trusted advisor”

 

Enable leaderships’ vision & priorities – “Get things done”

  • Set infrastructure for efficient governance – e.g. define agendas, lead meetings, ensure alignment, tee-up data/frameworks for decision-making
  • Ensure delivery – e.g. create/oversee action plans, track progress, resolve or escalate risks and issues
  • Keep pulse on organizational health to inform decisions / continuous improvement – e.g. define/track KPIs, reporting, dashboards
  • Identify issues early, attempt to resolve independently, escalate as needed

Increase leaderships’ bandwidth for strategic priorities & growth – “Triage and heavy lifting”

  • Help leadership prioritize and track critical topics
  • Draft deliverables e.g. memos, presentations, content for key meetings
  • Stand-in for leadership in collection / dissemination of information – e.g. attend key product development meetings, receive progress updates, deliver follow-up messages
  • Investigate/resolve ad hoc issues – e.g. identify process gaps, perform market/data analysis
  • Make decisions not requiring leadership attention – e.g. budget approvals; process exceptions

Provide neutral, strategic insight – “Trusted advisor”

  • Provide strategic thought leadership and/or lead strategic projects – e.g. definition of roles & responsibilities; process design; product strategy; cross-functional collaborations
  • Be a trusted advisor and communicator available to both leadership and the broader team
  • Build neutral insights and develop recommendations – e.g. re: strengths, weaknesses, team needs, morale
  • Help navigate confidential or complex topics—e.g. talent reviews, strategic pivots, organizational design

 

This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. As part of our global technology team, you may be required to be work off-hours or be on-call on a rotating basis. Other duties may be assigned, as needed. MediaMath retains the right to change job duties at any time.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years’ experience in a fast-paced business environment (experience in product, operations, business development, management consulting a plus)
  • Impeccable project management and organizational skills
  • Incredible communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong influencer and persuader abilities
  • Ability to comfortably dive into most/any area of the business or product
  • Trustworthy; able to gain the trust and respect of executive team and colleagues
  • Strong communicator; good sounding board for others in the company — provide open, honest feedback
  • Entrepreneurial; solution-oriented self-starter who can drive next steps and outcomes
  • Works with speed; multi-tasker
  • Flexibility: work intelligently on ad-hoc projects; quickly learn and absorb new information
  • Confident in managing up; efficient with limited resources
  • Develop & maintain a strong knowledge of/network within the AdTech space
